It steers viewers to read the manga for the full story). But enough about me! Other great things about this anime is the fact that it does not have a "read the manga ending" (a highly unsatisfying ending that has no closure. In other words, this show truly drew me in and thoroughly entertained me. And I actually rooted for the romance between the two romantic leads to work out. I loved a vast majority of the characters and felt like supporting them. It genuinely made me laugh more times than I can count. And because this show doesn't take itself seriously, it succeeds in being an incredibly entertaining work of art. It recognizes that it's goofy, ridiculous, and stupid, and it doesn't try to be anything else. The great thing about Kaichou wa meido-sama is that it really stays true to what it is. But did this make me dislike the show? Not at all. The plot is ridiculous, the characters goofy, the jokes exaggerated, and the romance between the two lead characters in question as drawn-out as any romance in a romantic comedy anime.
Yes, this anime is admittedly somewhat stupid. Years later, I decided to watch it again, figuring that I had matured greatly and would hence not enjoy it nearly as much as the first time I watched it. At the time, I thought it was one of the best anime I had ever seen, and certainly the best anime in the romantic comedy genre. Let me start by saying that I originally watched this anime when I was eleven or twelve years old.
